How Loperamide works
*Loperamide is an anti-diarrhoeal medication. It works by slowing down the contraction of the intestines thereby decreasing the speed at which the contents pass through it. This allows more time for reabsorption of fluids and nutrients, making the stools more solid and less frequent.
*It should not be used in patients with dysentery (diarrhea with blood)
*Do not use Loperamide if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated.
*Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Loperamide can cause dizziness and sleepiness.

2. Racecadotril 100mg in Adults
10mg in Paediatrics
Racecadotril is used in the treatment of diahrroea. It is used, when fluid and dietary measures are not sufficiently effective to control diarrhoea.
How Racecadotril works
Racecadotril has an anti-secretory effect. It reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. This helps to reduce the amount of fluid loss from the body in diarrhoea.
1.Racecadotril should be used together with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to provide adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement.
2.Don't use Racecadotril, if you have blood and pus in the stools or fever. This may be due to bacterial infection and may need different treatment.
3.Not recommended to be taken more than 7 days.
4.Don't use Racecadotril, if you have uncontrolled vomiting.
